Absurdity in Lit Class

So, my teacher is absurd, often. I'm never quite sure what to make of her as I sit through Lit day after day, sometimes intrigued, sometimes disturbed, sometimes simply uncomprehending. Dr. Fowler seems to take pleasure in disturbing people. She seems to delight in making people shudder. The reading for Monday is a dialogue written by the Marquis de Sade, the disturbing man from whose life and writings the term "sadism" was coined. The bigraphical information before the excerpt began with the following absurd sentence:

"The Marquis of Sade was too much of a masochist for his own good."

Just think about it for a moment. And laugh.
